What HVAC employers in the GTA hire for

HVAC hiring across Toronto splits into a few clear lanes, and knowing which one a role belongs to is the fastest way to judge whether it fits your experience.

  • Residential service — diagnosing and repairing furnaces, boilers, ductless mini-splits, and central air in occupied homes, usually with a van and a daily call list.
  • Commercial and light-industrial service — rooftop units, make-up air, chillers, and building mechanical systems, often with 313A or refrigeration scope.
  • Installation and new construction — replacement installs, retrofit work, and new residential or ICI projects.
  • Maintenance contracts — scheduled preventative service across a portfolio of buildings or homes.

Licences and tickets that matter

In Ontario, gas work is licensed by the TSSA and refrigeration and air conditioning trades are certified through Skilled Trades Ontario. A G2 gas technician licence is the common requirement for residential furnace and boiler service; a G1 covers larger appliance capacities. 313D is the residential air conditioning systems mechanic certification, while 313A is the broader refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic certification used on commercial work. Requirements vary by employer — read each posting for what is required versus preferred.

How Weld Talent works for job seekers

Weld Talent is a skilled trades and construction recruiter based in Ontario. Job seekers are never charged: creating a profile, applying, and being represented to an employer are all free. When you apply, we review your background against the role, and if it is a fit we introduce you to the employer and coordinate the interview. If it isn't a fit for that role, your profile stays in our Ontario candidate network for future openings.

Working across Toronto, York, Peel, and Durham

Service territories in the GTA rarely stop at the city line. A Toronto-based residential service role may include calls in Durham or York Region, and a Mississauga employer may cover Peel and west Toronto. When you apply, tell us the area you can realistically cover daily so we can match you to roles within your range.
